What happens after you pass MSF course?
A. Upon successful completion, you will have learned how to become a safe and responsible motorcyclist, will receive a DMV skills test waiver and possible insurance discount.
What can I expect from MSF course?
Depending on the class for which you’ve signed up, this may consist of 10 to 15 hours of instruction. You’ll proceed through various exercises designed to help you be safe and competent on a motorbike such as braking, accelerating, shifting gears, navigating around objects, U-turns, and changing lanes.
How long is the MSF course good for?
receive a DL-389 certificate in the mail about a week after your class. You must take the certificate with you to the D.M.V. to earn your license. This certificate is only good for one year from the date you pass the course. After one year, the certificate is expired and will no longer be accepted by the DMV.
Does MSF certificate expire?
MSF completion cards expire every three years. Exception: The Basic Rider Card expires one year from date of issuance. Riders must complete the MSF Experienced Rider Course/Basic Rider Course 2 or the Sport Bike Rider Course/Advanced Rider Course within 12 months of completing the Basic Rider Course.
Can I use my own motorcycle for test?
Yes you can use your own bike for the test provided you have all the legal requirements in place (insurance, tax, MOT etc). (If you use your “Big bike” motorcycle on the road without a qualified instructor, (and insurance etc.)
Can you ride a motorcycle in CA without a license?
Under California Vehicle Code 12500, it is considered illegal to drive a motorcycle in the state of California without a valid driver’s license. Not only does this cover motorcycles, but also any other motor-driven or motorized cycle. California also accepts other licenses issued by other states in the country.
