Where do you go after TBS?

Upon completion of TBS, second lieutenants will proceed to either flight training or training for their military occupational specialty (MOS). Once all specialized training is complete, you will be prepared to join the Operating Forces.

Where do marine officers go after TBS?

While at TBS newly commissioned officers will learn basic tactics of an Infantry Platoon Commander and develop their leadership and knowledge of the Marine Corps. After completion of TBS, Marine officers will be assigned their Military Occupational Specialty (MOS).

Is there a break between OCS and TBS?

A: From OCC to TBS, there is usually no wait–you commission and then go check into TBS immediately. From PLC, you will have a long wait, maybe 6 to 9 months after commissioning.

Do all Marine officers go to TBS?

The Basic School (TBS) is where all newly commissioned and appointed (for warrant officers) United States Marine Corps officers are taught the basics of being an “Officer of Marines”. The Basic School is at Camp Barrett, Quantico, Virginia, in the south-west of the Marine Corps Base Quantico complex.

What happens at Marine TBS?

TBS, short for The Basic School, is a six month grueling training cycle for newly commissioned Marine Corps officers and warrant officers. It is located at Marine Corps Base Quantico, VA. The mission of TBS is to train newly commissioned Lieutenants to become basically qualified rifle platoon commanders.

How long is TBS after OCS?

What comes after OCS?

After OCS, a newly commissioned officer will attend Basic Officer Leader Course (BOLC). This is a three-phase training program designed to provide initial military training for junior commissioned and warrant officers in both active and reserve components.

Is TBS considered active duty?

Upon completion, newly commissioned Marine Officers will begin active duty at The Basic School (TBS) as Second Lieutenants.

Can you fail TBS?

What happens to a marine if he/she fails The Basic School (TBS)? Short answer: They are recycled and must repeat it either in whole or in part. Longer answer: Assuming you mean failed due to not meeting the minimum standards academically or physically, they will be recycled and required to repeat the course.

How hard is USMC TBS?

Endurance Course It will condition you as it is very hard. In fact, most of the students (including myself) in the platoon failed the initial go around. We realized we needed to improve a lot. The endurance course at TBS is not 2.5 miles – it’s around 4.5.
