Can an army officer join SF Para?

Many defence aspirants want to know the complete procedure on how they can join the PARA SF in the Indian Army. No, Indian Army doesn’t recruit candidates for the PARA SF like Indian Air Force does it for GARUD Commandos. You can only join the PARA SF as an officer or jawan once you join the Indian Army.

Who can join the Parachute Regiment?

To join the Parachute Regiment, you need to be between the ages of 16 and 35.5 years old. You do not need any formal qualifications to become a Paratrooper; however, you will need exceptional levels of fitness.

Can a CDS officer become para commando?

After your first confirmed kill, you would be given the Balidaan badge and you are permanently absorbed in PARA SF. So it takes about 5 years to join Para Commando through CDS.

Can you join the paras as an officer?

The POIC is designed to assess whether candidates have the potential to serve as an officer in the Parachute Regiment. Candidates are required to undergo a number of physical tests in which they are expected to show both mental and physical robustness, as well as a team task to evaluate their leadership potential.
