Where do new Marines get stationed?

Many new Marines will land at Camp Pendleton or Camp Lejeune, the two biggest Marine Corps Bases. These bases, along with Okinawa and Hawaii, have vast landscapes necessary for training purposes.

How often do Marines get transferred?

Most military families move every 2 to 3 years, and some even more frequently. For a military child, it’s possible to have moved 10 times by the time they’re 12, and to change schools 6 to 9 times between kindergarten and high school graduation – it’s just what happens in the military.

In 1952, the Marine Corps took charge and was designated Headquarters Marine Corps Training Center. In 1957, it was commissioned as a Marine Corps Base.
