Where do you put chicken mesh in plastering?

To prevent crack in plastering work we use chicken mesh at junction of different material such between wall and column junction where coefficient of thermal expansion of different material is different and due to that chances of crack after plastering is bound to occur that’s why we use chicken mesh.

Why use chicken mesh is used in plastering?

Chicken mesh in old plaster was used to prevent cracking and hold the plaster together should the house experience settlement. The mesh also helps fight cracks caused by the twisting of plaster laths. Nowadays, I use galvanized wire mesh screwed to old wooden lath to protect my repairs against cracking.

Which chicken mesh is best for plastering?

When using for plastering, plaster layer and the reinforcing metal layer have different thermal expansion coefficient. Therefore, subject to extreme changes in temperature, chicken wire (durable twisted woven mesh – no rigid mesh) is more acceptable for plastering than welded wire mesh or expanded metal.

How long will chicken wire last?

It is good for about 5 years in a dry application.

What is the curing period of AAC block?

No curing is required neither for AAC blocks or adhesive. High tensile strength is achieved in less time. As the thickness of the adhesive is very thin, it eliminates the shrinkage cracks in joints.

Why is chicken wire used in plastering?

Using it when plastering effectively prevents plaster layer drying out and cracking. Its hexagonal shape prevents the formation of internal stresses. Due to its flexibility structure, chicken wire is convenient for mounting on curved and angled surfaces.
