Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) is responsible for the safety, security and maintenance of an aircraft. Aeronautical Engineering is four year degree course and the scope of Aeronautical Engineering in India is not so good. But the scope and salary of Aeronautical Engineers in Foreign is good.

Aircraft Maintenance Technician (AMT) is a tradesperson and also refers to a licensed technical qualification for carrying out aircraft maintenance. The certification is done by issuing a certificate of release to service.

What is an aircraft mechanic called?

Sometimes in the U.S., aircraft mechanics are known as Aircraft Maintenance Technicians, or AMTs. But this isn’t always the case. Some companies, like the company I’m working for at the moment, don’t use the term “Aircraft Maintenance Technician.” Where I work now, I’m just known as an “A&P” or “A&P mechanic.”

What is the difference between an AME and an avionics technician?

In India, an AME is authorized to sign out aircraft after conducting scheduled inspections and repairs. An avionics technician is specialized in maintaining the aviation-related electronics on an aircraft. A technician is not authorized to sign out scheduled inspections and repairs.
