How did Duolingo get started?
2009: Duolingo started out as a project led by Carnegie Mellon computer science professor Luis von Ahn and one of his PhD students, Severin Hacker. At the same time, he started discussing an idea for an educational tool with Hacker, his PhD student. They’d both seen firsthand the importance of good language education.
