Why is Express Entry taking so long?

Under normal circumstances, Express Entry applications are processed in six to eight months. Since the start of the pandemic, the processing time of all applications has been delayed.
How long does it take to get Express Entry profile approved?
We process most Express Entry applications within 6 months or less of getting your complete application.

New PR cards are currently being processed in about 125 days, and renewals are taking about 80 days.
Can I move to Canada after my PR application is approved?

Do you need a job offer to immigrate to Canada through Express Entry?
It’s true that Canadian employers will be allowed to have a more direct impact via Express Entry, but you won’t need a job offer to immigrate to Canada under the new system. If you’re a candidate in the Express Entry pool, you’ll be given points and ranked using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).
How do I check the status of my Express Entry application?
On the main page of your account, go to the section “View the applications you submitted”. Click on “Check full application status”. On the “Express Entry profile status” page, click on the “View your profile” under the heading “Your Express Entry profile status”.
What happens if I’m found not eligible for Express Entry?
If you’ve been found not eligible, you will need to create a new profile. An ineligible profile is no longer valid so you can’t change it, even if you have new information. You will still have to meet the Express Entry requirements that are in place.
