What are the long term effects of emotional abuse?

Emotional and psychological abuse can have severe short- and long-term effects. This type of abuse can affect both your physical and your mental health. You may experience feelings of confusion, anxiety, shame, guilt, frequent crying, over-compliance, powerlessness, and more.

What percentage of people are emotionally abused?

Although difficult to measure, research shows that between 50 and 80 percent of adults may experience emotional abuse in their lifetime. In addition, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention labels emotional abuse as an adverse childhood experience that affects 11 percent of children.

Can abuse change your personality?

Yes. Drug and alcohol abuse can change a person’s behavior and personality in ways that almost make them seem like an entirely different person. They may do things that make you think, “That’s not you!” as you struggle to understand the motivation behind the behaviors.

Not feeling loved by someone slowly eats you away & it all depends on how you as a individual handle it. At night it keeps you awake the thought of not having anybody love you. You feel scared because if you died there would be nobody that actually cared about you & your soul will just leave the body with you knowing this fact.

No, that’s not falling in love. But that’s still something. So if for a single moment I ever feel sad that I have never been in love with someone, or if I ever question whether it is something I will ever experience, I can at least say I know what love feels like to a certain degree.

Why can’t I imagine someone else in my life?

However, not knowing what it feels like to be in love doesn’t mean that you’re lonely. In fact, you most probably have a whole life full of possibility in front of you, which may be the exact reason why you can’t imagine someone else in the equation. Because all it ever took to live your life was having yourself and no one else.
