How to improve at Go baduk?
Here are my ideas on how to improve at Go:
- Play a lot of games.
- Apply newly learned concepts in our games. Theoretical knowledge should be put into practice.
- Study professional games.
- Have our games commented by a stronger player.
- Study Go problems (“tsumego”).
How can I improve my Weiqi skill?
Some pointers I could suggest to you to improve your Weiqi skill:
- Form a Weiqi review group of 3 to 4 persons with a mentor of strength 1 to 2 Dan higher than you.
- Dare to try out new moves in casual games.
- Join national competitions in Singapore.
How do I start learning board games?
Go has very simple rules and concepts, but a complex strategy. You start with an empty board. You alternately place pieces which don’t move (called stones) on it. You try to surround empty areas, whilst capturing your opponent’s stones by surrounding them and taking them off the board.
How do you get better at Tsumego?
Make your own tsumego. Pick any common shape you want to study (let’s say an L+1 shape), read all the regular solutions, then change up the situation a bit. Add a hane somewhere, add a stone or two somewhere, add a descend somewhere, etc. Repeat for any common shape that you want to study, there are plenty of them.
How do you do Tsumego problems?
Sensei’s Definitions: Tsumego
- Guess the obvious move.
- Find out that the obvious move doesn’t work.
- Guess the second-most obvious move, and find out that that doesn’t work either.
- Throw your hands up in frustration.
- Guess the most obviously-losing move, just in case that works.
What did I learn from Weiqi?
Trading – By understanding the equilibrium of buying and selling, a great Weiqi player learns on the board and works to his advantage even in the marketplace. Giving and Taking – No one takes all the time. A Weiqi player knows the balance well and gives generously at times.
What did I learn from Weiqi course?
Learning Weiqi teaches us how to keep balance in the area of assessing winning and losing situation.
How do I get better at reading in go?
One way to develop reading skills is to set up a situation on a goban or one of the Go Editing Programs that supports variations. Work out as many variations as you like. Restore the situation and then read out the variations in your mind. This is a good way to teach yourself go.
