How are singularities formed?

General relativity predicts that any object collapsing beyond a certain point (for stars this is the Schwarzschild radius) would form a black hole, inside which a singularity (covered by an event horizon) would be formed. The termination of such a geodesic is considered to be the singularity.

Are singularities possible?

A singularity is a point in space where there is a mass with infinite density. Singularities are predicted to exist in black holes by Einstein’s theory of general relativity, which is a theory that has done remarkably well at matching experimental results. The problem is that infinities never exist in the real world.

Can naked singularity exist?

Naked singularities have not been observed in nature. Astronomical observations of black holes indicate that their rate of rotation falls below the threshold to produce a naked singularity (spin parameter 1).

Can you ever reach the singularity?

Its a tough answer. There is no ever left once you have hit the event horizon. Time stops completely at the Horizon. You never go anywhere so its impossible to reach the singularity.

What is the singularity theory?

The technological singularity—or simply the singularity—is a hypothetical point in time at which technological growth becomes uncontrollable and irreversible, resulting in unforeseeable changes to human civilization.

Do singularities exist in black holes?

The singularity at the center of a black hole is the ultimate no man’s land: a place where matter is compressed down to an infinitely tiny point, and all conceptions of time and space completely break down. And it doesn’t really exist.

Can a singularity spin?

4 Answers. They rotate because they are produced by matter that has net angular momentum, and angular momentum is conserved in axially symmetric space-time. So, there’s nothing unusual making them rotate that’s different from any other physics.

Can you reach the singularity in a black hole?

It could be that deep inside a black hole, matter doesn’t get squished down to an infinitely tiny point. Instead, there could be a smallest possible configuration of matter, the tiniest possible pocket of volume. And two, it makes it impossible for singularities to form inside black holes.

What would a singularity look like?

When a naked singularity is objectlike, it looks rather like a black hole unclothed by a horizon (hence the name). If you point a camera straight a black hole, you will see only inky blackness. If you point one at a naked singularity, you will see a small but bright object, albeit one with an unusual spectrum of light.

Who gave singularity theory?

Roger Penrose and Stephen Hawking both developed theories that attempted to answer how gravitation could produce singularities, which eventually merged together to be known as the Penrose–Hawking Singularity Theorems.

Is there such thing as a singularity?

General relativity, Einstein’s theory of space, time, and gravity, allows for the existence of singularities. On this nearly all agree. However, when it comes to the question of how, precisely, singularities are to be defined, there is widespread disagreement.

Are singularity and black holes possible?

The possibility of singularities also carries potentially important implications for the issues of physical determinism and the scope of physical laws. Black holes are regions of spacetime from which nothing, not even light, can escape.

What breaks down spacetime singularities?

When it is the fundamental geometry that breaks down, spacetime singularities are often viewed as an end, or “edge”, of spacetime itself. Numerous difficulties, however, arise when one tries to make this notion more precise. Breakdowns in other physical structures pose other problems, just as difficult.

Should you get an outsider to do your review?

Getting an outsider to do the review helps overcome this limitation as they don’t know what you mean before going over your work. Other people’s styles are different and can add spice to your routine. What I am talking about here is the right brain or creative side of our mind.
