What guns do Marines use for training?

Unlike the other branches, Marine recruits qualify with the same M16 rifle they’ve been carrying around with them throughout the entire basic training course. Therefore, you should treat your rifle well every day to make sure that it’s in good shape for qualification day.

What guns do Marines shoot?

The basic infantry weapon of the United States Marine Corps is the M27 Infantry Automatic Rifle. Suppressive fire is provided by the M240B machine gun, at the squad and company levels respectively. Marines at the rank of E4 and above rates receive the M17 semi-automatic pistol.

During grass week, recruits spend hundreds of hours snapping in on targets and getting used to the different firing positions. They practicing their breathing, trigger control, and learn how to zero their rifles. When they shoot their weapons the following week, they’re ready.
