Under normal inspection, AQL levels range from 0.065 to 6.5. The larger the AQL level, the more lenient the inspection. For general consumer products inspection, AQL level is usually set at 2.5, which implies a zero tolerance for critical defect, 2.5 for major defects, and 4 for minor defects.

  4. Determine the standard deviation (a standard deviation of 0.5 is a safe choice where the figure is unknown)
  5. Convert the confidence level into a Z-Score.

What does an AQL level of 1.0 mean?

“0/1 reject/accept level” means that the lot is passed if there is 0 defect, and rejected if there at least 1 defect. In practice it is similar to an AQL of 0.065\%, except if your order quantity is above 150,000 pcs (I am assuming level II). Daniel Fok says.

  • Level I requires about half the amount of inspection as level II,and is used when reduced sampling cost are required and a lower level of discrimination (or power) can
  • Level III requires about twice the amount of inspection as level II,and is used when more discrimination (or power) is needed.
  • Is Aql testing required within the 100\% visual inspection?

From the regulatory point of view an AQL testing is not mandatory but it is state of the art. If no AQL inspection is carried out this implies that it was shown in the course of process validation that the established method is virtually 100\% successful. But this is nearly impossible in practice.
