What happens if you get an NJP in the Marines?

The punishments meted out for an NJP offense are limited to confinement on diminished rations, restriction to certain specified areas, such as not being allowed to leave a ship or base, arrest in quarters, correctional custody, extra duties, forfeiture of pay, detention of pay and reduction in grade.

How do I request Bah from the Marines?

All Marines without dependents and below E-6 must fill out a BAH request form found on the MFR SharePoint under the HQBN S-4 site. Typically SSgt’s are guaranteed BAH-Without and Sgt and below are case by case. The BAH request will be routed through the Mbr’s Chain of Command.

Can a sailor refuse NJP?

Can I receive BAH based on where I live?

Under most circumstances, you receive BAH for the location where you are assigned, not where you live. Additionally, you may be entitled to some BAH amounts if you are residing separately from your dependents. This occurs in situations involving unaccompanied overseas tours or having a dependent child that resides with a former spouse.

Does my BAH rate change if I get promoted?

No. If you are promoted, your BAH rate is the then-current published BAH for your new (higher) grade, with the following exception. If you get promoted, and are in a location where the current published BAH for your new grade is lower than the BAH amount you were receiving before, you continue to receive the higher BAH amount.
