Initial registration for CA Foundation is valid for 3 years. That means 6 attempts. (yearly two) After 3 years you should revalidate it for another 3 years.

Assume student starts his/her Article-ship in AUGUST 2018 and will be eligible for CA FINAL Exam in MAY 2021 (+34 months), Results and Article-ship will be completed by the end of JUNE 2021 (+2 months). Total = 36 months. Hence it requires 4 years and 4 months to complete the CA course.
