What is SSB in CRPF?

They are the Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).

What is the difference between SSB and BSF?

BSF is the biggest force after CRPF and also takes part in interna security situations. For eg it is present in naxalite belts , northe east, JnK etc. SSB on the other hand is border guarding force for Nepal and Bhutan border. The border is relatively peaceful and the boundary cleary demarcated.

What is Sashastra Seema Bal Quora?

In fact Nepal and Bhutan border was given to SSB in 2002 after the Kargil war under One border one force . Simultaneously SSB which was earlier called Special Service Bureau was combatised for this role amd was rechristened as Sashastra Seema Bal. Thus SSB as a force is of recent origin.

CISF is a unique organisation in the paramilitary forces of India, which works for seaways, airways and some of the major installations in India. The CISF plays a major role in Disaster Management.

Assam Rifles is the oldest paramilitary force raised way back in 1835 in British India with just 750 men. Since then, it has gone on to fight in two World Wars, the Sino-Indian war of 1962 and used as an anti-insurgency force against militant groups in the North East.
