What happens if my college is not Aicte approved but university is UGC approved?

If you are joining a UGC approved university course, even if it is not approved by AICTE you will not suffer on any of the above accounts. It is the colleges which require compulsory AICTE approval, so if you are directly studying at the university you do not need to worry about the above point.

Is UGC approval necessary?

The selection of the right institute is important for a student’s career, especially in today’s environment when hundreds of institutions have mushroomed across the country. The UGC recognized institutes would mean the fulfillment of minimum education requirements. Also, the degree awarded by them will be recognized.

What is BCI accredited?

The Bar Council of India ( BCI) is a statutory body established under the section 4 of advocates Act 1961 that regulates the legal practice and legal education in India. Its members are elected from amongst the lawyers in India and as such represents the Indian bar.

Do law colleges come under UGC?

UGC affiliation is provided to the universities surpassing some educational standards while BCI( Bar Council of India) affiliates only those colleges which have some quality standards in the field of law education and the whole panel consists of Lawyers from all over the country.

What is the difference between UGC approved and Aicte approved?

When talking of UGC, it is the apex body that approves universities in the country. UGC provide funds for affiliated universities and colleges. The AICTE is only a statutory body, which deals with co-ordinated development and proper planning of the technical education system in the country.

Any specialisation LLB like B.B.A LL.B, B.A.L.LL.B, ( 5 years specialised in Labour Law, Specialised in Constitutional Law, these must have been approved by the BCI through that university. Any private college under that university has to operate in accordance with it.

What is the eligibility criteria for a BA LLB programme?

To pursue a BA LLB programme the aspirant must have completed class 12th from a recognised university with a minimum aggregate of 50\% to 60\%. Also, certain colleges have set an upper age limit that varies from college to college.
