LIVING QUARTERS AT SEA Whether on a ship or submarine, Sailors are provided with sufficient living spaces. The berthing area allows you an area for storage and an assigned rack for sleeping. Crew lounges serve as a place for Sailors to kick back and watch TV or play games.
Where do Sailors sleep in the Navy?

At night, seamen sleep in hammocks slung between beams or at least, half of them do. The crew is divided into two “watches” (teams). One watch sails the ship from 8pm to midnight, then sleeps for four hours while the other watch works. Tomorrow, the two watches swap over their duties.
Specific underway schedules can vary widely. Normally ships will go to sea for 10 days to 2 weeks each month for training operations in preparation for deployment. Extended operations away from home port can last up to 6 to 9 months, and ships typically deploy once every 18-24 months.
Where do navy personnel live?
the barracks
During basic training and initial job training, all enlisted service members are required to live in the barracks. When service members move to their permanent duty station, only single members are required to live in unaccompanied housing, or barracks.
Living in the barracks or dormitories is mandatory during basic training and job-school and your dependents are not allowed to travel to basic training or job school at government expense. During these periods you receive BAH for the area that your dependents reside.
Can you drink on a Navy ship?
99: “The use or introduction for drinking purposes of alcoholic liquors on board any naval vessel, or within any navy yard or station, is strictly prohibited, and commanding officers will be held directly responsible for the enforcement of this order.”
Yes and no. While underway on submarines, you can have personal electronic devices (PEDs) a category which includes phones.
