Do I need a AIO cooler?
AIO cooling would be recommended only where high temperatures would be expected, e.g. continous intense gaming or overclocking. The fans included with processors work just fine for normal usage.
Is Noctua NH D15 enough for i9 10900K?
If you are considering an Intel i9-10900K and don’t plan extreme overclocking, I’d happily recommend a Noctua NH-D15S with a single fan as an air cooler. This should be more than adequate for a stock i9-10900K and should also keep a mild overclock in check.

Best answer: If you’re not overclocking, the stock CPU cooler will be fine, but if you do want to push your machine a little further, then getting an all-in-one liquid cooler is the place to start.
Is custom water cooling better than AIO?
AIOs are for people that want their cpu to be very cool but have a bigger budget than that of someone with an air cooler. Custom loops are for high-end builds where you are cooling multiple parts and want really nice aesthetics.
Is Noctua NH-D15 good for 10700K?
I wouldn’t consider D15 overkill for 10700K overclocking at all. D14 is just the old discontinued version of the D15. U14s (Current) is just as tall and as expensive as the D15, with worse performance. If you want to go slightly lower in the Noctua Line, I would recommend the D15s.
