What is the relationship between Sudan and Egypt?

Egypt still shared a long border and continued to view Sudan as part of its backyard, a feature of the bilateral relationship that the government of Sudan found especially irksome. The Nile, Egypt’s lifeline, flows through Sudan before reaching Egypt.
