Is a small world worth it?
Overall, Smallworld gets an 8.0/10. As with all Days of Wonder games that I have played thus far, this game is definitely worth playing, but the replayability is a concern that knocked it down from being in the 9.0 range.
Is Small World complicated?
It isn’t hard to play but much more difficult to play well and that’s where the interesting choices come in. Depending on your race and its ability, choices need to be made about where to enter the board, where to expand, whether to challenge an existing race, when to go into decline, etc.

Absolutely not! I was invited to A small world for some years ago, and accepted, but never used it. It’s a network trying to target the few, the elite, and in all fairness.. it was not for me, last year a client of mine, asked me to take a look of it again, to see if it was anything interesting, since they changed their business model.
Is ASW membership fee worth it?
Bottom line – if you’re travelling less than 1-2x a year, and live in a place where ASW community isn’t vibrant, I can understand that membership fee wouldn’t be something you’d happily justify as a good investment. Except I don’t think you’d be able to get it.
Why is ASW bad in Canada?
If you go to small cities like Montreal or Boston it’s even worse. ASW wasn’t doing very well couple of years ago and they make a choice to let anyone in the platform which diluted it’s purpose/raison d’être and the top successful people left the platform and refuse to pay for garbage for what it is right now.
