How does the AEB system work?
AEB works by using radars to measure the distance to any vehicle in front, and then reacts if that distance shortens suddenly. AEB is a system that makes your car a better, safer driver than you, basically, which is why it’s a shame it’s not standard fitment on every new vehicle sold.
How does AEB apply the brakes?
In regards to Kia’s Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), our system uses a radar sensor installed at the front of the vehicle that keeps an eye on the road ahead all the time. If it recognizes a potential obstacle, the system will tell the brakes to apply themselves in an effort to lessen the severity of the collision.

Why is my AEB light blinking?
A solid AEB lamp is a malfunction for sure, but someone in Sales or Service should’ve told you a blinking one has nothing whatsoever to do with the brakes or radar. It’s the lane camera above the rearview causing it, a blinkie means it’s obstructed (or thinks it is).
What does AEB initialising mean?
The AEB system automatically switches back on, the next time the vehicle’s ignition is switched on. When the vehicle’s ignition is first switched on, the AEB system may require an initialisation period before it is fully functional.
What is Feb system?
Adaptive cruise control and Forward Emergency Braking (FEB) system becomes spontaneously disabled during driving. This poses a serious issue when actually driving the car. The car is in motion when this happens. The system can only be reset by stopping the car, turning off the ignition and then re-starting the engine.
