What is the difference between T-72 and T-90?

The T-90 is essentially a T-72 upgraded with the more advanced systems found on the T-80U, but ditches the T-80’s troublesome gas turbine engine. The T-90 adds a new laminated armor package, explosive reactive armor and an electronic countermeasures suite.

Is the T-72 better than the t80?

To summarize the major differences: T-72/T-90 uses a standard diesel engine; the T-80 uses a gas turbine. The T-80 is faster, but has inferior range. The T-80 is a lot more expensive than the T-72, though a bit less so than the T-90.
