What is shill bidding on eBay?
Shill bidding is when someone bids on an item to artificially increase its price, desirability, or search standing. This could create an unfair advantage, or cause another bidder to pay more than they should. We want to maintain a fair marketplace for all our users, and as such, shill bidding is prohibited on eBay.
Can you bid the same price on eBay?
There is no bidding on fixed-price listings. Fixed-price listings are set to Good ‘Til Canceled duration by default. This means your item will be relisted on eBay every month until it sells or until you end it.
Do people on eBay bid on their own items?
Bidding on your own auctions or buying and selling to yourself or your own family or company in any way is strictly forbidden on eBay and if you attempt to do this, you will get caught. Both undermine trust in eBay and are strictly forbidden.
What happens when a second bid comes in on eBay?
When the second bid comes in, if it’s from the same eBay member, ebay accepts it as long as it’s higher than that bidder’s first actual bid. The bid entry is listed as the top bid in the bidding hisroty, but since it’s from the same bidder as the current top bid, the showing bid amount for BOTH bids remains at the Starting Price.
Why does the same person bid the same amount every time?
They do so. It shows up as the same bidder, same amount because no one else is bidding. He gets the same message “bid your max amount” and he does it again. If he is inexperienced, he might be as confused as you wondering why his higher amounts are not showing.
Why can’t I see someone’s maximum bid amount?
They entered higher amounts each time but you can’t see their maximum bid amount. When someone else bids, their bid will increase up to their maximum. It is called automatic bidding and any buyer can do it.
Does the top bid amount have to be the starting price?
The showing “top bid” is set at the Starting Price. The bidder’s actual bid amount is hidden from all others (even the seller). The actual bid amount does NOT have to be the Starting Price.
