The game that became Fez began in a collaboration between Montreal-based Phil Fish and Toronto-based Shawn McGrath on McGrath’s idea for a puzzle game: a four-sided 3D space with each side in 2D, similar to Fish’s 3D pixels (voxels) as incorporated into Fez.

On his Twitter account and on developer Polytron’s website, Fish has announced that Fez II has been canceled. Developer Polytron also confirmed the cancellation in a tweet to its followers, writing “we apologize for the disappointment.” “Compare your life to mine and then kill yourself.”
Why was Fez 2 Cancelled?
Fish then announced via Twitter a month later that Fez 2 was cancelled, with Polytron officially confirming the end of its development shortly after. Fish explained that his decision to end the production of Fez 2 was attributed to his desire to exit the games industry due to the abuse he has received.

Fez sequel will never be a reality. Fez 2 is “never going to happen,” game developer Phil Fish reiterated on Twitter, a year after announcing the cancellation of the sequel. The sequel to Polytron’s 2012 platformer was unveiled during independent game conference Horizon Conference last June.

What language did Fez speak?
In “Eric’s Burger Job,” during a job interview at Fatso Burger, Fez claims he can speak Dutch, but never on the show has Fez actually spoken any languages apart from English and Spanish. In “The Immigrant Song,” Fez retells his catch phrase (“I said good day!”) in his native tongue, which is in reality just gibberish.
