Can I burn a DVD to a Blu-Ray disc?

Blu-ray burners are a different piece of equipment. You can, however, burn DVDs on a Blu-ray burner. CDs won’t create “playable” DVDs or Blu-ray discs. You can store the files on a CD, but clients won’t be able to watch them on a Blu-ray or DVD player.

Can you burn 720P to DVD?

DVD format limits the data rate to lower than what is required for 720p. So, while you can ‘write’ data to a DVD, playback will not play ‘smoothly’, or if you lower the bit rate in the encoding process, the quality will suffer significantly.

What is the resolution difference between DVD and Blu-Ray?

1080p resolution (also called high definition) is what is possible on the Blu-ray Disc format, compared with DVD’s 576i resolution. To break it down further, you get 1920×1080 pixels on a Blu-ray—that’s 2,073,600 pixels, whereas DVD only delivers just 414,720 pixels.

In the small window that appears, give your disc a name, then click Burn. A tiny window with a progress bar will appear. When it’s finished, your disc will be finished burning. Once your disc is done, you can pop it into any Blu-Ray player and it will start playing your movie automatically.
