The dilemma Socrates and Euthyphro discuss the nature of piety in Plato’s Euthyphro. Socrates points out that if both options were true, they together would yield a vicious circle, with the gods loving the pious because it is the pious, and the pious being the pious because the gods love it.

Why can’t God do anything?

There are things God cannot do because those things are outside or contrary to God’s nature (I’ll outline seven of them below). However, God can do anything that is within his nature. This brings us to a biblical definition of omnipotence: God can do anything in accordance with his nature, and he cannot do anything contrary to his nature.

What are 7 things that God cannot do?

7 Things God Cannot Do. God cannot be wrong or make a mistake – Everything God does is right. His knowledge is perfect (Job 37:16). All His works are perfect (Deut 32:4). He never even makes an “honest mistake.” God cannot sin – God is holy. He is “light” and in Him there is no darkness (1 John 1:5). Perfect holiness.

Can God do anything he wants?

Scripture teaches that God is all powerful, but it also shows us that his power does have a limit: his nature. God can do anything he wants or imagines, but only in accordance with who he is, that is, his nature. If it’s contrary to God’s nature, then he can’t do it. Think about it this way: a bachelor is someone who is not married.

Is there any evidence that God doesn’t exist?

“There’s no evidence that God doesn’t exist.” This argument is often offered as a last line of defense in religious debates, and the person posing it might feel very clever coming up with it. However, the premise of the argument is both flawed and ridiculous. The failure to disprove something does not constitute proof of its existence.
