What do girls bring to basic training?
You’ll need casual, comfortable clothing. Also bring white underwear, calf-length athletic socks (also white), a pair of comfortable shoes or running shoes and your eyeglasses. Besides these items, women recruits also need sports bras, regular bras, hair elastics that match your hair color, and feminine hygiene items.
What do you wear to MEPS?
Wear neat, moderate, comfortable clothing. Don’t bring stereo headphones, watches, jewelry, excessive cash or any other valuables. Ask your recruiter for a list of recommended personal items to bring to basic training. Processing starts early at the MEPS — You must report on time.

How do you get through tough times at BMT?
Having a solid reason of why you’re joining is going to be what helps you push through the tough times. BMT can make some people question why they joined. If you remember why you joined and why you’re going through it, you can get through anything at BMT. Start drinking water.
Do you have to wear glasses during BMT?
At BMT you will get issued glasses, but that can take a few weeks. Once you receive your BMT issued glasses, you will have to wear those the remainder of BMT. Having a solid reason of why you’re joining is going to be what helps you push through the tough times.
Can I Wear my high school contacts to BMT?
For those of you who never had to do that in high school, don’t sweat it, it will be one of the last things you’re worrying about when you’re at BMT. Can you wear contacts at BMT? DO NOT wear your contacts to BMT, you will have to take them out. Take your glasses to BMT and maybe even a 2nd pair (just to be safe).
What is the difference between military time and BMT time?
You will be required to memorize them and live by them while in BMT and throughout your Air Force career. Military time, also referred to as 24 hour time, is how you will tell time while in BMT and in the military in general. In military time there is no AM or PM. Instead you will add 12 to the PM times.
