What is the purpose of G70 and G71 Code?

List of G-codes commonly found on FANUC and similarly designed controls for milling and turning

Code Description Milling ( M )
G69 Turn off coordinate system rotation M
G70 Fixed cycle, multiple repetitive cycle, for finishing (including contours)
G71 Fixed cycle, multiple repetitive cycle, for roughing (Z-axis emphasis)

What is G72?

G72 is our G-Code that tells the machine that we wish to use the roughing facing cycle that cuts towards the centreline of the part. The ‘W’ on the first line is the depth of cut in Z-axis. The’ R’ refers to the distance that the tool pulls off of the material when moving in rapid to the next starting point.

What is the purpose of G71?

G71 turning cycle is used for rough-material removal from a cnc lathe component. G71 turning cycle makes large diameter cutting easy. Cutting can be done in simple straight line or a complex contour can also be machined very easily.

What is U and W in CNC?

You just change your axis to U or W. You can remember this by its position in the alphabet UVW correspond to XYZ . What this means is that you have U instead of X and W instead of Z. Oh and if you have a Y axis you can use V.

What is G91 in CNC?

The G91 command switches to incremental (or relative) rather than absolute positioning (Source: Simplify3D) On the other hand, G91 is used to toggle to incremental positioning, also known as relative positioning. Incremental positioning means that your machine tool moves to a location relative to its current position.

What is the W axis?

W-axis is the term for one of the linear axes in CNC- machining centres. A w-axis is a special case which is mostly to find on fix gantries with two separate tables. The tables are mostly moveable with these machines. The y-axis realizes the procedure movement.

What is stock removal in turning?

Stock removal is the process of removing material (stock) from a workpiece. Stock removal processes include: Machining. Milling. Turning.

What is CNC program for cnc lathe with G71 turning cycle?

In this article, we wrote CNC Program Examples for CNC lathe with G71 Turning Cycle. There are different G71 Cycle examples for outside and/or inside diameter turning, with or without G70 finishing cycle. G71 Turning Cycle is a CNC code and used to stock removal in turning for CNC lathe machines.

What is a G-code G71?

W – AMOUNT LEFT ON FOR FINISHING IN Z F – FEED RATE G71 is our G-Code that lets the controls know that we wish to use a roughing cycle and that the following information applies to that. The U on the first line of code is the depth of cut of each roughing pass.

What is a G71 turning cycle?

There are different G71 Cycle examples for outside and/or inside diameter turning, with or without G70 finishing cycle. G71 Turning Cycle is a CNC code and used to stock removal in turning for CNC lathe machines. Its purpose is to remove stock by horizontal cutting, primarily along the Z-axis, typically from the right to the left.

What are the machining paths addressed with the G71 command?

Two types of machining paths are addressed with a G71 command. The first type of path (Type 1) is when the X-Axis of the programmed path does not change direction. The second type of path (Type 2) allows the X-Axis to change direction. For both Type 1 and Type 2, the programmed path of the Z-axis cannot change direction.
