Can a gun go off by racking the slide?
If it is unloaded and double action the gun will click every trigger pull. If there is no round in the chamber, racking the slide will feed a round into the chamber and the pistol can be fired. Rack it again, and the unfired round will be ejected and another fed, and the pistol can be fired.
What does racking a gun mean?
To rack a gun is to grip the slide and pull it all the way back then release it. This accomplishes two, and sometimes three, tasks. The first task is to remove a spent cartridge case from the breech if the weapon failed to do so on the previous firing for some reason.
