Are 2 column resumes ATS friendly?

Not suitable for ATS systems: Applicant tracking systems take the information you provide in your resume and scan it through a software system that looks for relevant keywords and other information. While a two-column resume may help your resume stand out, some hiring managers may prefer using basic formatting.

Is it okay to have columns in resume?

A resume with two columns is bad if it interferes with being readable by an ATS, which will cause your resume to be screened out and never reach a human reader, no matter how strong your qualifications.

How do you make columns on a CV?

To add columns to a document:

  1. Select the text you want to format.
  2. Select the Layout tab, then click the Columns command. A drop-down menu will appear.
  3. Select the number of columns you want to create.
  4. The text will format into columns.

Should you use tables on an ATS resume?

While not advisable, tables can still be useful on an ATS resume. For example, using a table to organize a simple skills section is unlikely to cause major problems as long as you remember how ATS “read” your resume.
