Why do some AP classes have more homework than others?

This depends on the AP course and the class you have. Harder AP classes will obviously require more homework to nail down the information. Easier AP classes may not require as much homework because they don’t have as much content. If your teacher is very demanding, they may give it a lot of homework.

AP Biology is not that homework-intensive, honestly but we of course have work! AP English Language- it’s a course where you have to teach yourself how to be good at comprehension. AP English teachers focus way too much on timed essays but sometimes ignore the multiple choice section on the way.

How many APS should I take to get into Brown?

I recommend taking only 2 APs sophomore year, 4-5 Junior year, and 3 to 4 Senior year. That puts you in the 9-11 range which more than enough. Also keep in mind that if you apply to Brown with 12 APs, you’ve wasted your time since they give you ZERO AP credit.
