Are grades important in life? Grades are often touted as the single most important factor when determining college admissions, job applications, and future success. Good grades grant entrance to an elite academic college. Academic success at a top university guarantees a well paying, highly respected job.

Do grades actually matter?

Grades carry much more weight in high school than they did in middle or elementary school. Good high school grades are important for a student’s post-secondary career—especially if he or she is thinking about scholarships and college admission.

Are grades all in high school?

Your grades throughout high school remain the most important factor in college admissions. While colleges also look carefully at your standardized test scores, essays, recommendations, and other personal factors, they view your grades as the strongest predictor of your academic success in college.

Do grades really show intelligence?

However, grades have nothing to do with how smart a person is. Intelligence is not measured by a student’s memorization skills and effort level, and it should not be treated that way. Students need to know that grades are just numbers used to classify people and are ineffective in separating smart people from others.

Does Marks decide your future?

Exam results are mere tests and numbers which tells you in which subject you are good or bad. Not your marks but you decide your future.

Is it hard to get straight A’s?

It will be impossible to get straight As if you don’t go to class. Not only will you miss critical information if you skip, but many classes include participation as part of your final grade. Going to class requires nothing extra; it is the most basic way to ensure you’re getting a good instructional foundation.

Do grades really matter?

Grades AREN’T everything! For those who did well, it’s a great accomplishment that will serve as a head-start for their futures. And for those who didn’t, it’s an opportunity to look at what they can learn from this experience. But for both camps, accepting that marks are not the be all and end all of education is an important lesson going forward.

Do your grades come back to haunt you?

However when you grow up reality hits you really hard in ways you cannot imagine. Whether it be getting a good job or getting admission in a good college or even getting funding for your start-up, poor grades will keep coming back to haunt you. Some of the best jobs in the best companies are open only for those with excellent academic record.

Do you value your grades?

No. Grades can sometimes be distracting from real learning, and often focus on the wrong things. Valuing how you learn and what you learn and how you think about learning is a very different thing from valuing grades.

Are marks the be all and end all of Education?

But for both camps, accepting that marks are not the be all and end all of education is an important lesson going forward. And the best thing parents can do for current students is to show them why… Because grades aren’t a reflection of intelligence or ability. They are a reflection of hard work.
