Are motherboard standoffs universal?
All motherboard screws and standoffs are universal, so you can use them as you like.
Do I need all motherboard standoffs?
No, you don’t actually need all of them. Some people are saying standoffs are serving as a grounding points for MoBo but that’s just plain stupid because standoffs are non-conductive and as such can’t serve as a ground points. MoBo is grounded through PSU.
What size standoffs do motherboards use?
Motherboards and other circuit boards often use a #6-32 UNC standoff. #4-40 UNC thumb screws are often found on the ends of DVI, VGA, serial and parallel connectors.
Are standoffs pre installed?
Some cases come with them pre-installed, other cases just have the threads to install them. The number and position is dependent on the motherboard. There could even be standoffs pre-installed that are NOT needed and have to be removed.

Signs up to 4 feet in size should use one standoff in each corner for proper support. Larger signs may require additional standoffs along the perimeter. It is recommended that you place additional standoffs every 10-18″ for signs larger than 4 feet.

Do mobos come with screws?
Every Motherboard (MOBO) will come with a set of screws and posts (the little hexagonal screws that hold the MOBO off the side of the case for airflow.) When you buy a case, it will come with it’s own screws but doesn’t provide them for other installed components.
Do Corsair cases come with standoffs?
The PC case comes with the standoffs (normally 9) with the screws, as well as the I/O empty slot card brackets. The motherboard comes with an I/O shield to place in the case.
Can you remove standoffs?
If you have a standoff that does not align with a hole in the motherboard should be removed to avoid a short. A pair of pliers should be sufficient to remove the standoff. If needed, a vise grip can hold on much tighter. Standoffs outside of the motherboard perimeter do not need to be removed.
