Almost everyone does agree that classic literature has a place in present and the future. Of the students surveyed, 70 percent said reading classics is beneficial, and 80 percent said classics are relevant in the modern world.

Why are classics so hard to read?

Classic is hard to read because of its language, mostly archaic language is used in classical literature and it is not easy for modern readers to understand it because we are not familiar with this kind of vocabulary. For example words of Shakespeare and Marlowe are so hard to understand.

Classic literature is important because it opens up a perspective to different worlds and historical perspectives. Reading classic novels has also improved my overall vocabulary and writing skills because writers from an older time period have unique styles of writing.

Is there a book that you will never recommend?

There are many important books published decades or even centuries ago that have great significance but I’m not going to recommend them for your reading enjoyment. The prime example is Moby Dick, which I have read and I will never recommend. Life’s too short and that novel is too hard to read.
