Everyone In Tennessee Is Just Plain Nice. The fine people of Tennessee are genuinely friendly folks. If you’re from New York or Florida, you might find it off-putting, but don’t worry—they’re not going to try to sell you anything or pick your pocket. They really are just that friendly.

Most suburbanites stay to the Burbs and East Memphis the majority of the time. They occasionally venture downtown or to Midtown for arts and entertainment. I lived in Midtown when I was there last and have family and friends downtown and in Midtown.
