Are there penguins at both north and south poles?

Most of us think of penguins as living In Antarctica and in the north pole. But neither of these are completely true. Another myth is that all penguins live in Antarctica, but not all do. Penguins can live anywhere in the southern hemisphere.

Why do penguins live in the South Pole and not the North Pole?

Although penguins are able to swim long distances, they are predominately shore birds and thus do not venture far into the ocean. In addition, migrating through warmer waters to reach the northern hemisphere is almost impossible for penguins and could prove fatal.

There are 18 species of penguins, 5 of which live in Antarctica. Another 4 species live on sub-Antarctic islands.
