Can a law student practice in court?

Litigation: After graduation, law students can opt for a career as either a civil litigation lawyer or a criminal litigation lawyer. But to get into the litigation career path, students must attend an exam conducted by the Bar Council of India.

Can I become advocate through distance education?

Yes you can do a number of Courses through distance education to become a lawyer. Check out the BGL course of Annamalai University and Madurai Kamraj University. You can even do for the LLM after BGL.

Is it necessary to practice after LLB?

Can I become a lawyer after completing LLB?

AFTER ACQUIRING llb DEGREE CAN I BE ABLE TO PRACTICE AS A LAWYER IN THE COURTS BECAUSE I WAS TOLD IF I OBTAIN BGL DEGREE I CANNOT PRACTICE. Yes, After you LLB you can practice as lawyer. There is no doubt in that. Minimum qualification is LLB to practice any civil, criminal court. After that you can make your own chamber in court.

Can I practice law in court with a BGL degree?

BGL [Bachelor of General Law] degree entitles you to work as a lawyers assistant or give consultation regarding legal issues but you can not practice law in court. However, with a LLB degree, you can practice law in any court in India either Civil court or Criminal court.

Can I do LLB from IGNOU through distance learning?

IGNOU does not run LLB and as per BCI guidelines distance LLB holder is not authorised to register as a lawyer. Annamalai University provide LLB through distance and make one eligible to apply for govt vacancies which need LLB but not for practice. No, you can’t practice because it is not affiliated from bar council of India.
