Can I connect two BMS in parallel?

BMS units do work in parallel, but can still cause some issues if you run near the maximum loading. For example, if you have two 60 amp units running a 100 amp load, it should all work fine, but if one bank happens to have a cell reach the low voltage limit, it will open to protect that cell.

How do you connect two lithium batteries in series?

If you are going to series connect Lithium batteries, the best option is that we recommend putting one BMS over all the Lithium batteries in a series which will control the charge to each battery and ensure all the BMS’s go open circuit at the same time, preventing any single BMS from completely stopping the charging …

Do I need a BMS for parallel?

You do not need a full-blown BMS. Your stated charge/discharge currents are way below 18650 ratings (so you can get away without thermal sensor) and parallel cells do not need balancing.

Do lithium batteries need BMS?

Well, actually, no – lithium batteries don’t need a battery management system (BMS) to operate. You can connect a few lithium battery cells in series to make a battery pack without any sort of lithium battery management system, and it will be able to power various loads and be charged just fine.
