Can I enter India with BRP card?

From today (15 April 2015) Biometric Residence Permits (BRPs) for non-EEA nationals travelling to live in the UK for more than six months will begin to be issued to visa applicants in India. The changes will affect those applying to join family in the UK, as well as students and workers applying for a longer stay visa.

Can I travel with my biometric residence permit?

Please note the biometric residence permit is not a travel document on its own and therefore will need to be shown alongside a passport at the border. However, the document is acceptable as a standalone document when demonstrating immigration status, identity, right to work and access to public benefits.

Can you travel with permanent residence card UK?

You cannot use your UK residence card at the border to enter the UK unless you applied to the EU Settlement Scheme on or before 30 June 2021. If you did not apply to the EU Settlement Scheme, you might still be able to apply.

Yes, you must carry your BRP with you when you are travelling abroad, as you will need to present it alongside your passport to the Immigration Officer at the port of entry when you re-enter the UK.

You are advised not to travel outside the UK without your BRP. The BRP is proof of your immigration permission and you are normally required to show this in order to travel to, and re-enter the UK.
