Can UAN be used for background verification?
Simple answer is NO. A job applicant’s BGV won’t be failed just coz his UAN service records are contradicting with the service records he showed on his CV. As mentioned before, UAN is obtained to link with PF account and not to cross verify the service history.
Can anyone check my PF details?
Any employee who contributes to an EPF account can check the balance in his/her EPF account via online channels; they do not have to wait for the employer to share the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) statement at the end of the year to know the balance.
Who can see UAN details?
Can my previous employer find where I work now? Yes they can know in which company you are working by using your UAN. UAN provides complete service history details for both employees and employers.
Can employer see my service history?
EMPLOYERS CAN VERIFY YOUR EMPLOYMENT HISTORY: At the very least, this means that they’ll find out where you worked and for how long, and what your job title was at your former employer. Double-check dates and job titles before you submit your application.
Is UAN number confidential?

What happens to PF account after absconding?
Nothing happens. Since you have not notified EPFO, the money in old account will continue to earn interest for 36 months even if you don’t contribute to it. However you can link both accounts with one UAN.

Your UAN remains the same even when you change jobs All along your employment years, this number remains constant and every time you change a job you get assigned a new PF Member ID by your new employer.
Is it okay to share PF number?

Can my previous employer check my previous EPF deductions using UAN number?
The answer is No, your new employer cannot check your previous EPF deductions by using your UAN number. But they can find your service history by using your UAN number in their employer PF portal. Can a previous employer Know Your UAN number?
If you give pf account no of company b to your c company they can know your uan no. They can know your experience tenure of previous job through this . Do Uan companies use Uan numbers for BGV?
To my knowledge, UAN Companies have not yet commenced use of UAN numbers for BGV. UAN is basically the Unique Number given to PF subscribers designed that the subscriber has access to his contributions, his latest statement, applying online for loans as also for withdrawal and transfers.
Can my employer check my employment history on the PF portal?
Currently, as per the features available on the PF portal, the employer can’t check your employment history on the PF portal. But after joining them, if they want, they can check your employment history pertaining to the given UAN. You can escape for the time till you apply for transfer of old with new one.
