Can we connect two diodes back to back to make transistor?

No, two diodes connected back to back cannot be used as a transistor. A PN diode will have equal doping on both sides, but for a transistor, the base must have the least doping level and the emitter must be highly doped. Joining two diodes will make the base size larger than the emitter and the collector.

Can you make a transistor from two diodes?

You just can’t. There’s a transistor-model which is explained with two diodes and you can measure the two diodes in the transistor but you cannot make a transistor with two diodes.

What happens when 2 diodes are connected back to back?

If you have two diodes connected back to back,essentially you would have one diode forward biased during one cycle of the supply but the other diode is reversed biased. Current does not flow.

In n-p-n transistor, the free electrons passing through the base to the collector have a short life time. As long as base thin, the free electrons can reach the collector. Hence two diodes connected back-to-back can never work as a transistor.

A transistor with two positive layers surrounding a negative layer is known as a pnp transistor, and a device with two negative layers around a positive layer is an npn transistor.
