Can we prepare for USMLE during MBBS?

The USMLE step 1 preparation can be done from the 2nd year of MBBS in India. Indian doctors are eligible to appear for USMLE step 1 after 2nd year of MBBS in India. The USMLE step 1 preparation courses provided are from Beckers and Kaplan. It also has live classes conducted by the US based experienced doctors.

How many times can I take USMLE?

The total number of attempts allowed per Step is four (4). Examinees who have attempted any USMLE Step (including Step 2 CS) four or more times and have not passed are ineligible to apply for USMLE Steps.

For the most part, they are not totally required. You will run into a few questions that require you to understand the histology, but the power of most of the histological features you identify are to solidify your diagnosis or to give you an extra push towards the correct pathophysiology.

When should I take USMLE Step 1 and Step 2?

Step 1 is better taken during MBBS. If you are lucky and score good, take step 2 too otherwise take step 2 which is 2 parts clinical knowledge and clinical skills , during final year of Medical undergraduate. Usmle Step 2 CS and step 3 can be taken only in USA .Once you graduate and have degree apply for matching for Residency.

A MBBS student can take usmle. This is a medical licensing examination to practice in USA and not a degree. Which means you have to have a medical degree . Step 1 is better taken during MBBS.
