Can we use laptop battery BMS?
Even though these old batteries can’t power a laptop, there are still plenty of low power applications that are useful. The laptop BMS typically will protect the battery from short circuiting, under charge, over charge and over heat conditions. The BMS also ensures that the batteries are well balanced.
Can I use any BMS?
So whether you have 7s1p or 7s10p, using 18650s or 14500s or 21600s, you can use the same BMS as long as its maximum output current is within your requirements. The maximum output current is how much current can be drawn before overcurrent/short circuit protection kick in and disconnect the battery from the load.
