Can you choose your ship date for basic training?
When you choose your MOS, you can pick when you want your ship date to be. As others said, it can be anywhere from a few weeks to a year.
Can you change your boot camp date?
The Process. When you sign up for DEP, you have committed to ship out to boot camp on or by a certain date. You have signed legally binding documents that commit you to basic training, but until you actually graduate from basic training or boot camp, you have the option to change your mind at any time.
What happens if I don’t show up for my ship date at MEPs?
Once you took that one you were obligated. If you didn’t show up for your ship date, or stopped coming to drill during your DEP time, you were dropped from the rolls as a MEP loss. If you ever tried to enlist after that you would have to get a waiver, but no legal action was taken against you.
Can my recruiter change my ship date?
If your recruiter or someone needs a contract they may do it but understand to change the date means that your recruiter did not ship someone so it becomes a juggling game the recruiters may not want to play. Not sure, talk to your recruiter.
What happens if you don’t show up to your ship date?
The recruiter may tell the person he or she must report on the date scheduled. Recruiters often say things like, “If you don’t show up you will be AWOL; you will go to jail and get a Dishonorable Discharge. It will ruin your life.”
How can I end my military contract early?

Can you sign up for the military before you ship out?
This allows someone to sign up for the military prior to the date when they will ship out for initial training. People in the DEP are unpaid and are not subject to the Uniform Code of Military Justice, UCMJ.
How long does it take to get assigned to 30th AG?
Soldiers are instructed to call the person listed as their next of kin within 24 hours of arriving at the 30th AG Reception Battalion. Your Soldier will be assigned to the company he will train with after a week or so of in-processing at the reception battalion.
Can you mail packages to Fort Benning overnight?
It is not recommended that you overnight anything to your Soldier. Paying the additional fees to overnight a package will only guarantee that the package arrives at Fort Benning overnight, but the post mail process is still the same – it takes time to get thousands of letters to thousands of Soldiers.
How long does basic combat training in the Army last?
Basic Combat Training for all Military Occupation Specialties (MOS) in the Army lasts 10 weeks. Infantry and Armor OSUT lasts from 14 to 16 weeks depending on your soldier’s MOS.
