Can you combine aux inputs?

Plug both into it and run that to your speaker. The only problem with that is that you can only have one on at a time or you will hear both playing. The other option, more expensive but better results, is a 3.5 switch.

Can I split an AUX cable?

You can usually split an output but you can’t “split” an input. To connect two sources to an input you need a switch because a splitter effectively connects both sources to each other.
