Can you get an acoustic bass?

Can you learn bass on an acoustic bass?

Since the top 4 strings (lowest sounding strings E-A-D-G) are exactly the same on a bass or acoustic, you should be able to learn on your acoustic before you get the money to buy a bass. The only thing you won’t be able to do is learn any decent right hand technique because an acoustic isn’t set up for that.
