Can you go to buds without enlisting?
As a civilian, you can request to join the SEALs before enlisting through the SEAL challenge contract (seaman to SEAL program). The SEAL challenge contract guarantees you the opportunity to become a SEAL candidate and entitles you to certain bonuses and benefits when you enlist.
How long does it take to get into buds?

How do you get in shape for buds?
Run 4 miles in under 30 min. consistently once per week and run 2 miles in under 11:30 no matter what 5 times a week. My personal times when I did the BUDS screening; Pushups 112, sit-ups 90, pullups 18, 500 meter swim 10:20, 1.5 mile run 11:00.
What happens if you fail buds?
The goon squad is to motivate you never to be last again or fail a run again. You only get three chances to with most events. If you fail three of anything – you will be back in the Fleet.
What is BUD/S Navy SEAL training?

Can you join the Marines and then go to BUD/S?
