Can you join IB in 11th grade?

IB examinations are written during the month of May of the Grade 12 year. Some students may write one or two IB exams in Grade 11 depending on school scheduling. The remainder of the exams are written during the Grade 12 year.

Do you have to take a science in IB?

You can only take two of the three science subjects in the IB it is true. But then you don’t have to take all three to be a university scientist!

Can I do IB after 10th?

Shifting a child from a CBSE/ICSE school to an IB school after Grade 10 is one such decision. Most high school students in India study under the aegis of the CBSE, ICSE or State Boards. Post IGCSE, students can opt for A/AS levels or IBDP for their plus 2.

Should I choose IB or CBSE?

Both CBSE/ICSE and IB offer quality education. CBSE/ICSE offers a relatively theoretical model of education that is well suited for students preparing for college entrance exams in India and is also reputed and recognized worldwide. Students should not switch to IB just because they wish to apply abroad.

Is IB easy than CBSE?

YES, because unlike ICSE / CBSE, IBDP spans beyond text books and purely exam oriented courses, like what others have mentioned already. I have changed to IBDP at 11th from ICSE and doing good. Consistent hard work through these two years will ease you to some extent, but requires a lot of time and dedicate to ace it.

Can I take the IB Diploma Program in high school?

IB courses and the IB diploma program are only offered at certain high schools which have undergone particular teacher training programs and been certified by the central IB organization. Not every high school has the desire or resources to pursue the certification process, which is extensive and requires a financial investment.

Does the IBDP end with a diploma?

The full IBDP concludes with a special diploma, but depending on your high school, you may be able to take a few IB courses a la carte without committing to the diploma program. Like many other advanced high school curricula, the IBDP is designed to introduce you to college-level academic work.

Does the IB programme use the local curriculum as a base?

But sometimes, the IB programme does use the local curriculum as a base. For example, Hindi can be offered as a second language in the IB Diploma Programme. The IB curriculum is more challenging than educational boards like CBSE and ICSE. But the challenge is in the quality of assignments, not in the amount of work assigned.

What is the age range for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program?

This two-year series of courses, projects, and other requirements is intended for students between the ages of 16 and 19. The full IBDP concludes with a special diploma, but depending on your high school, you may be able to take a few IB courses a la carte without committing to the diploma program.
