Can you put any PC parts together?

There’s nothing worse than ordering a bunch of PC parts online, receiving the delivery and finding out that the CPU you’ve ordered isn’t compatible with the motherboard. You won’t be able to install an Intel CPU into an AMD socket motherboard, for example.

Will any graphics card work with any motherboard?

The good news is that most modern GPUs are compatible with almost any motherboard from the last decade. Even so, it’s better to be safe than sorry. You will only need to check for graphics card compatibility if you’re getting a dedicated GPU.

Just find out if the card/motherboard is supporting either PCIe x8 or x16 interface. In your case, it is more likely compatibility between motherboard and GPU compatibility, not CPU. If you go higher end, with large number of GPU, then it is more like Xeon as better than i7 or AMD.
